Behind These Walls

An illustrative look behind the walls of the Main Building of the NH State Hospital in Concord, NH. Originally named Asylum for the insane in 1838 then changed to NH State Hospital in 1901. The campus was conceptualized in 1830 and the Main Building built in 1842. Large wings off the North side named Peasley and Peasley Annex housed the men and criminally insane with Kent and Kent Annex off the South side housing female patients and nurses.
